Another great attraction is the migration of Southern Right Whales to False Bay every year. These spectacular creatures come close to shore during the spring breeding season (September). You are bound to see the playful cavorting of the whales in the bay and the distinguishing v-shape of the Southern Right whales blowhole, and if you are one of the lucky onlookers you may even see a full breach.
Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town is home to the penguins – the quirky, curious birds that have woven their magic through the old Naval Town and affected everyone with their spirit. The community is at once old-world and fiercely cosmopolitan, enriched by both the hip and the hippy.
